BACKGROUND
Background
Following a brand refresh, Hong Kong Airlines needed to roll the new visual language across its official app and website as a coherent system. The work covered cross-device adaptation, multilingual support and the front-end implementation of complex flight search logic — calling for a single team who could design and ship.
CHALLENGE
Challenge
Within three months, deliver the visual design and front-end build of the core app flow (search → select → checkout → pay) and the website home, with consistent experience across devices.

APPROACH
Approach
Design: starting from HKA's new brand spec, we tokenised colour, type and spacing into a unified design system, shipped as a Figma component library plus developer docs.
Engineering: Next.js + Tailwind for the responsive website; React Native for the app's core flow. Pixel-perfect parity between design and code was an acceptance criterion. Decoupled front-end / back-end architecture with the existing HKA booking platform via API.
User research & scenario mapping
Map target users, key touchpoints and information priority. Pin down what the page should solve first.
Visual language
Define colour, typography, image ratios and rhythm so the project speaks with one voice.
Components & design system
Break key modules into reusable structures spanning lists, details, showcase and conversion flows.
Hand-off & delivery
Multi-device adaptation, copy placement and detail polish to keep visuals and experience unified.

OUTCOME
Outcome
Delivered on time. App rated 4.7 on the App Store; website Lighthouse performance 92. HKA added Linggu to its annual design panel and commissioned two follow-on projects — the loyalty system and the in-flight entertainment interface.
